Updated Message from the NLCDH regarding COVID-19 and suspension of dental hygiene services

Notice of Revised Order
Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dental Hygienists

On March 24 the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Newfoundland and Labrador Dr. Janice
Fitzgerald issued a revised order that limits all regulated health professions with the exception of
Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, from engaging in private practice.

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dental Hygienists exists to protect the public. Due to the
unprecedented heath risks associated with COVID-19, Dental Hygienists will continue to cease engaging
in private practice. As stated earlier the services of Dental Hygienists are not considered essential

A true emergency is defined as oral-facial trauma, significant infection, prolonged bleeding and pain that
cannot be managed by over the counter medications.

The NLCDH will keep you informed of any important changes. Please check emails often. CDHA
provides daily updates by email.A YouTube channel with the latest information has been set up. Connect

We will make a difference ,if we each do what is necessary. A difference that will save lives.
Stay safe and well,
Jeanie Bavis
