Dr. Brake-Patten holds a Degree in Science, Doctor of Chiropractic and Master of Education. In May 2019 she celebrated 25 years of clinical practice winning a national award for community service and leadership in Toronto.

She has worked diligently for her profession by lobbying the government for privileges for chiropractors in NL and then finally signing the Hospital x-ray privilege agreement in 2002. She now sits as VP of the Newfoundland Labrador Chiropractic Association.  She is also on the Residential Support Board, a board to assist individuals with disabilities live in the community in a family environment and recently been appointed to the NL Arts Council and College of the North Atlantic Board of Governors.
