What is a Midwife?

A Midwife is a healthcare professional that applies knowledge, skills, and judgement to assess, monitor, and provide care to healthy individuals and infants in respect of health promotion, pregnancy, labour, delivery, and the post-partum period.

Use of Reserved Titles

In Newfoundland and Labrador, only registrants with the NLCHP and CMNL can use the following title and practice in the following area. To verify if a healthcare professional is a registered Midwife, reference the list of registered health professionals.
